Ok, who knew that my post about travel captions for Instagram would be such a fun topic!

I can see now that having just the one wasn’t enough.

In my other post, I explained that travel, to me, means going somewhere. Anywhere. Even if it’s somewhere I’ve been a million times, there’s a part of it that’s still new.

I had the good fortune to travel to a place I’d never been before. It was such an exhausting drive to the canyon. I didn’t realize how remote the area would be. There was no cell service! Like…none.

The plan was to go for an early morning hike, and then move on to the next sightseeing destination. Ha! The thing about traveling is that we make plans. And then life happens.

All the photos I’d seen of the canyon hiking trail showed a flowing bluish-green river. The trail was designated as “easy”. Perfect!

Well, due to unplanned delays, the “early morning hike” turned into a noon hike with the sun was beating straight down. There was no shade. The flowing blueish-green river was a stagnant brown puddle. Oh and the “easy” hike was really a steep incline of rough ledges cut out into the canyon cliffs.

So many of the other ill-prepared travelers out on the beginners trail had to turn back. It was that hot.

What is happening? Why am I here? How did it come to this?

I could’ve gone back too. But I knew that I came all the way out here for a reason. To experience something unique. How could I turn back now?

And then I saw it. The view from the highest point of the trail. After chugging lots more water (and Gatorade), I could see that the views were indeed spectacular.

This is why I’d left the comfort of my familiar bed and come out here. Believe me, I was exhausted and almost ready to give up. My body was screaming to do so! But the extra bit of effort was so worth it.

The different trips we take bring out different moods, and sometimes your photos need a new angle, a sharper tone, or just something that hasn’t been said a hundred times.

I don't personally think that sunrises and sunsets need much help, the photos tend to speak for themselves. But adding caption can add a little more feeling and emotion of the experience, especially if it’s a sunset experienced during your travels.
